The Red Revolution
Well, the Red Revolution was this weekend and I seriously lack the words to describe it. It almost feels like when you go on an incredible mission trip and people ask you to unpack all that happened and even though you long to share what God did, you literally feel like they just should have been there. That's the Red Revolution. I will say this, it was SUPERNATURAL and God made it happen. But here is my best recap of the weekend...Friday we started the load in and just felt the buzz in the air that the day that Adam has been planning for a year was finally there. The guys from Nashville (our "rockers" for the night) began to arrive and it just felt exciting to meet all the guys. Then the Reach Records artists started to arrive and it just felt like family was home. It was such a great day of anticipation. Hearing the rockers rehearse songs from the "Amped" album (which the lead guitarist produced)got everybody going crazy. They were a godly band that lacked NO talent. Probably the most together, cleanest, but intuitively talented band I have heard play... ever. THEN....Lauren and Bex came into town! I call that moment a "soul kiss" from God. It felt incredible to have friends from home drive 7 hours to come support us. Fast forward to Saturday morning. Liz and Ashley cooked breakfast for about 45 people and we all just ate and talked. Saturday afternoon the girls and I chilled and I practiced my song for the night in front of them while the artists and my sweet honey went to the Memphis museum Stax. This is a place that tells the story of the racial tension of Memphis and the how the only people that seemed to come together after Martin Luther King was killed were the musicians. Stax is a former recording studio, now museum, where people like Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes and many others began their career. Basically, the Red Revolution started at Stax with the artists going on tours of the museum with people that would come to the concert that night talking about racial tension and the church. And then the show started. I was so NERVOUS!! But that was crushed immediately! Adam was up first to explain why we were there...not just for an amazing concert but to learn through rap, rock, spoken word, video, song, an incredible drum line and a powerful message that we are as 1 Peter 2:9-10 says, "...a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, set apart so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him that called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. You were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD...!" and most importantly he said, we were there to worship! Once that was said, I stepped out to sing the 1st verse twice of the hymn "I Love You Lord." It was incredible! The people were so ready to go, I could hear them yelling the Amens! while Adam was speaking and while I was singing. They had come so hype! So ready! And the night excelled from there. Amazing. I normally stress when I am apart of the process of making a concert happen, but once I sang, I took a seat in the audience and sang every word with the rockers and rapped every word with the rappers and when the two came together after performing separately all night for the last 6 songs that make up the "Amped" album I was on fire!!! Rebekah leaned over to me and said "Oh my goodness, they should always perform together!" Our point exactly! Check out theredrevolution.com and ask yourself the question..."What color am I?" "Am I black, white, Hispanic or RED because Christ died for me and my brothers and sisters in Christ?" We must unite and see the beauty of culture in each other but recognize first that culture is beautiful but created by man. God can be seen in all cultures, but when you allow it to lord your life instead of Christ or let it dictate who you fellowship with and love inside the Body, well then, it has taken its undeserving place in a hierarchy that God does not recognize. Don't lose your culture, but recognize that Peter would say that it is sooo secondary that we are considered "not a people" until we are a people in the chosen race of God. That is primary. God's glory is so huge that it can't only be manifest in the hood or the "burbs." Lets stop being boring and branch out, or more importantly BE THE BODY! Til Later!
a little rehearsal
Trip Lee, Sho Baraka, Tedashii, and LeCrae...Men with serious hearts for the Lord!
My hubby and the guys headed to Stax!
Adam leading the guys in a devotional to prepare for the day

Adam did everything from plan the event to designing the t-shirts we wore! I am not sure, but I think he was pleased with the night.
